Removals Edgware Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement sets out the steps Removals Edgware has taken, and continues to take, to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking within our business operations and supply chains. We are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our relationships, and to implementing effective systems and controls to ensure modern slavery is not taking place.
Our Zero-Tolerance Approach
Removals Edgware has a clear zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of modern slavery, forced labour, child labour, human trafficking and exploitation. This commitment applies to our own operations and to every level of our supply chain. We will not knowingly engage with any individual, contractor or organisation involved in such practices, and we are prepared to terminate relationships where non-compliance with our standards is identified and not promptly remedied.
All managers are responsible for promoting this zero-tolerance approach and ensuring that colleagues, agency workers and contractors understand that modern slavery is a serious violation of human rights, company policy and applicable law.
Our Business and Supply Chains
Removals Edgware provides household and commercial removal and associated services. Our supply chains include providers of vehicles, equipment, packing materials, storage facilities, recruitment and temporary labour services, and various professional and support services. We recognise that some areas of our supply chain, particularly those involving manual labour or subcontracted services, may be at higher risk of modern slavery, and we give these areas particular attention.
Supplier Standards and Due Diligence
We expect all suppliers, contractors and business partners to share our commitment to preventing modern slavery and to comply with all relevant legislation. As part of our due diligence processes, we assess existing and potential suppliers for ethical and labour standards, including their own policies on modern slavery, working conditions and the treatment of workers.
Our supplier onboarding procedures include a requirement that suppliers confirm they do not engage in modern slavery or human trafficking and that they have procedures in place to identify and address such risks. We may decline to engage or continue working with suppliers who are unwilling or unable to meet these requirements.
Supplier Audits and Monitoring
Removals Edgware is committed to monitoring compliance through proportionate supplier audits and reviews. These may include site visits, document checks, discussions with management, and where appropriate, confidential conversations with workers. Audits focus on employment practices, recruitment methods, working hours, payment of wages, freedom of movement and the right to terminate employment.
Where non-compliance or areas of concern are identified, we will work collaboratively with the supplier to implement corrective actions within a reasonable timeframe. If adequate improvements are not made, we reserve the right to suspend or terminate the relationship.
Training and Awareness
We aim to raise awareness of modern slavery risks among our employees, particularly those involved in recruitment, procurement and supplier management. Training and guidance are provided to help staff recognise indicators of modern slavery, understand our zero-tolerance stance, and know how to report concerns. We encourage open discussion of ethical issues and promote a culture in which raising concerns is supported.
Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing
Removals Edgware encourages employees, agency workers, contractors and suppliers to report any concerns or suspicions of modern slavery at the earliest opportunity. Concerns can be raised directly to line managers or to senior management. Individuals may raise issues confidentially and will not suffer any retaliation or detrimental treatment for doing so in good faith.
All reports are taken seriously and investigated promptly and sensitively. Where appropriate, we will involve relevant authorities and cooperate fully with any external investigations. Records of investigations and outcomes are maintained to support continuous improvement.
Continuous Improvement and Annual Review
We recognise that tackling modern slavery is an ongoing responsibility. Removals Edgware is committed to continually improving our policies, procedures and controls to respond to emerging risks and best practice. We review the effectiveness of our approach through feedback from audits, incident reports, staff input and developments in legislation and guidance.
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement is reviewed, updated and approved at least once a year. The annual review considers changes in our operations, supply chains and risk profile, as well as lessons learned from any reported concerns or audit findings. Updated versions of this statement are made available so that our commitments remain transparent to employees, customers, suppliers and other stakeholders.
By maintaining a strong zero-tolerance stance, robust supplier oversight, clear reporting channels and a structured annual review process, Removals Edgware aims to play a responsible role in helping to eradicate modern slavery and human trafficking from our industry and the wider community.
